Google Pixel 5 and 4a 5G Arrive with ultrawide cameras

Google’s smartphone line has officially entered the 5G market. The new Pixel 5 and 4a not only supports 5G, but they will also be among the first phones to run on the Android 11 operating system.

Google Pixel 5

Unlike its previous predecessors, the Pixel 5 won’t have a senior sibling with an “XL” name. The phone is built around a 6.0″ display with 1080p+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It is rather surprising to see a 2020 flagship phone with such display size, as the market is demanding and moving to bigger/larger displays.

But the display size isn’t the only surprising specs of the Pixel 5. We have the Snapdragon 765G ( with X52 modem for 5G connectivity) powering this Google’s owned device. This is not only shocking but very controversial. And it seems high-performance is no longer a top priority for the American company.

At the back of the Pixel 5 is a module consisting of a 12.2MP f/1.7 main camera with dual-pixel PDAF & OIS, and a 16MP f/2.2 ultrawide camera with 107° Field of View. The punch-hole selfie camera sports an 8MP f/2.0 wide lens with auto-HDR.

The Pixel 5 packs a 4,080 mAh battery capacity and supports an 18W fast charging technology. Pre-order starts today while the phone is scheduled to be available from October 15 in nine countries. The price tag for the Pixel 5 is $700/€630/£599.

Google Pixel 4a 5G

This is a 5G version of the previously released Pixel 4a. It comes with a 6.2″ OLED display which is about 2-inch bigger than the Pixel 5 but is powered by the same Snapdragon 765G chipset.

The camera setup is also the same as the Pixel 5, while the battery capacity is at 3,800 mAh with an 18W fast charge. The Pixel 4a is not dust and water-resistant though.
